Dusit Ngoprasert

Sun Bear Expert Team Co-Chair

Dusit has had a keen interest in wildlife population monitoring since 2001. He received a Ph.D. from the King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), involving research on the ecology and population estimation of sun bears and Asiatic black bears. His interests include a range of questions related to conservation, population ecology, and study design. Most of his research has focused on carnivore conservation, including bears, canids, and small carnivores. He is currently an associate professor of ecology in the School of Bioresources and Technology at KMUTT. Dusit assists students and collaborators to deploy appropriate methodologies and undertake rigorous data analyses for population and distribution models. He focusses on increasing the capacity of regional researchers and graduate students in quantitative data analysis for informing science-based wildlife conservation. He is also a member of the IUCN Canid Specialist Group/Dhole working group.
