Giant Panda Expert Team Co-chair
Fang Wang is a conservation biologist with School of Life Sciences in Fudan University, Shanghai, China. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in bio-technology from Peking University, and a Ph.D in Zoology from Peking University. His research with giant pandas focuses on population dynamics, habitat fragmentation, identification of movement corridors, and pandas’ responses to anthropogenic interference. He also serves as a conservation planning expert on the species expert committee for the Giant Panda National Park. He helps numerous giant panda nature reserves in designing their monitoring system and analyzing species data, and participated in public outreach efforts. He supervises a number of research and conservation projects on giant pandas as well as several other species, including Asiatic black bear, leopard, raccoon dog and green peafowl, with a focus on their spatio-temporal responses to environmental changes and conservation planning.
